Season kicks of with competition success!
The aerobatics competition season got underway last weekend and Ultimate Aerobatics pilot Emily won the Breighton Combination.
The season got off to a slow start with the first competition, originally scheduled for the 28th March having to be postponed due to the weather. The gale force winds expected, along with rather a lot of rain, meant that most pilots would have been unable to get to Sandtoft (where it was scheduled), and even those who could were unlikely to have the weather for a competition.
Given this, the pilots were raring to go when there was a better forecast for last weekend. This competition was held at Breighton airfield which is a very friendly airfield in Yorkshire. We received a very warm welcome and the airfield couldn't have been more helpful in looking after us, which included squeezing us in to the hangars when the forecast overnight was less than ideal for leaving our noble steeds outside.
This was to be our first competition in the new aeroplane and she proved to fully meet expectations, with Emily finishing in first place in the Breighton Combination and coming second in the re-scheduled Icicle (the trophy which had to be re-scheduled). Unfortunately Mike was unable to compete due to work committments, but he did make it along to help out.
They are both now looking forward to Elvington, which starts next Friday, where they will be competing against each other!
